Edward Esbeck serves as a Voting Member for the Iowa SILC. He was born in 1997 in the country of Uganda, and grew up at Nagura Reception Centre in Kampala. In 2007 he was adopted by his current family, and he moved to Iowa City with his family in 2014.
Edward attended high school at Iowa City High School, where he participated in track, cross country, and basketball. He was Homecoming King in 2016.
After he graduated in 2016, he worked for HyVee as a bagger and in the bottle return room. In 2017 he started as a LEND self-advocate trainee. In 2019, he began working for the University of Iowa hospital.
His hobbies include running, board games, basketball, and playing UNO. He also likes going out biking and on runs. Edward says he is currently living his dream of working with people with disabilities. His dream is to help people around the world overcome their challenges with disability and to let other people see them accomplish their goals.
