The National Association of Statewide Independent Living Councils (NASILC)
The Mission of the National Association of Statewide Independent Living Councils (NASILC) is to provide resources to Statewide Independent Living Councils (SILCs) across the nation, and promote collaboration with their partners to advance Independent Living values. Their vision is accessibility for all, inclusion for all, independent living for all.
Prior to this group organizing and developing a non-profit association, there was an annual SILC Congress held in different locations across the United States in the month of February. SILC Congress was an annual training event for SILC Council Members, staff, and volunteers. It was designed to explore and expand each person's present and future role in SILC from a national perspective, as a leader and visionary, as a manager and a change agent, as a strategist and communicator, and as a decision-maker and critical thinker. This group has recently organized into a National Association. The NASILC continues to hold annual SILC Congress trainings in the month of February.
